How does it work?

  • Complete the sign up form by clicking here.

  • You’ll be paired with a budding grower living locally.  Ideally, the grower will live within walking distance of your home.

  • Before making any commitments, you’ll get to meet your neighbour/ budding grower over a cup of tea.

  • We ask all budding growers to complete a consent form and provide a referee for a reference check. You’ll receive all the guidance and support - from start to finish - ensuring a positive experience.

I’m a
garden owner

    • Improve your health and well-being.

    • Develop a rewarding relationship with a neighbour.

    • Make a positive contribution to your community.

    • Share a harvest.

  • We suggest 2 square metres for a raised bed (to keep things neat and tidy) and, if possible, the corner of a shed or a shelf to store a few basic tools.

  • This is entirely up to you. The garden owner has complete discretion.

Obviously there will be times when your garden-share partner might need more frequent access to the veg patch - watering and weeding during a dry spell for example. But don't worry. At the start of the pairing, once we've matched you with someone you're happy with, we will draw up a written agreement to set healthy boundaries and expectations between you and your garden partner.

If you can provide a small space in your front garden, it might make access for you and your garden partner easier to manage, but again this decision is entirely up to you.

  • Should there ever be any issues, we will always be available to offer any guidance and support. While we ask garden owners to commit for a full growing season, we understand this won't always be possible. We will help resolve any issue that may arise.

  • We provide an attractive, high quality raised bed, along with compost, a GIY.ie starter growbox and GIY.ie ‘how to grow’ online course.

We’ll run regular meet ups and events for you and the wider Community Roots’ group living in your area.

We also offer guidance and support throughout the experience.
