How our volunteering scheme works:

We have a database of members who have opted-in to our service to receive volunteer support from time to time.

Some of these members are marginalised and vulnerable persons living in the community. Members also include schools, care homes, community groups and spaces.

As ‘jobs’ arise for any of our members, they log a “shout out” on our messaging service.

We then forward that “shout out” to our volunteers - your staff - to see who’s available. We then coordinate everything from there.

Tasks may include raised bed building, clean ups or garden maintenance.

Whatever the task, through volunteering with Community Roots, we promise meaningful work - work where volunteers feel they are making a difference in the community - while gaining new skills and experiences, having lots of fun and meeting new and interesting people along the way.

We welcome volunteers who have not volunteered before. Volunteers may volunteer once a year, every six months, once a week etc. depending on their availability. No Garda Vetting is required to get involved with a volunteer team.
